Evaluation Criteria:

The scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants based on Grade Point Average, SAT scores, evidence of ability to succeed at the school the student has chosen to attend and financial need. A "B" average (3.0) or higher is desirable. In addition the committee considers community service, extra curricular activities, work experience, and family responsibilities.

Situations that are exceptions to these guidelines or that have special circumstances may be presented to the IGC Scholarship Fund for consideration. No retroactive scholarships will be awarded.

Enrollment Standards:

Students must be planning to attend college, university, vocational or trade school, and may enroll full time (12+ units) or, if circumstances require, part time (9-11 units). Applicants intending to develop skills in crafts and trades are considered as carefully as those enrolling in academic programs. Extension work will be accepted only if it is awarded full college credit from an accredited institution.

High School Graduates, First Year Scholars:

A minimum, cumulative 2.5 GPA is required in the first year of college. Students should note that thereafter, in the second and subsequent years, a minimum 2.7 GPA is required each semester or quarter.

Continuing Scholars:

To reapply, a student must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 in the first year and 2.7 in each subsequent semester or quarter. Scholarships for continuing students are dependent upon the current year's funding and are not guaranteed.

After successful completion of the first year of college, IGC scholarship recipients may reapply to the Fund for three years. These years are to be run consecutively except when extenuating circumstances interfere. When an interruption in college attendance has occurred and a student reapplies for a scholarship, each situation will be considered on its merits by the Scholarship Fund.
